I searched the forum, looks like it could be a gear in the IC?
I need to take out my IC and re solder the joints because of the warning bulb light, so is it most likely going to be a problem inside the IC? Or can it be the cable, i didnt find much STFA any links to fixing would be great thanks a lot.

It can be a pain to take apart the cluster. I did this on my 90 and while I was able to replace the gear and get the ODO working I would up breaking other things in the cluster. I got one from force5 auto for $50 IIRC

...is stationary. Puts a lot less stress on the gear that breaks.

Well it was my first time messing with the cluster and I wound up losing the gear that moves the fuel gauge.
This was also on a 90q cluster so things are a little more cramped.
I think the website I got the gear off of was odometergears.com, If you want to go that way I will find the web adress. {BTW the gear is about 30$ shipped}
Also my gear went the same way, and then I stupidly did the exact same thing in my volvo 850 a week later

easy removal, since i have to resolder stuff anyway im not too upset, and the Odo broke before i hit the trip so i dont think it cause it, i just tried hitting it once it wasnt working, it went to 135 on my current tank of gas then stopped so oh well. my old 5000 was broken at 150k or so too.
Do i need the 15 spoke gear, that pod gear, or is ours a mechanical gear? seems like i need to get in there and see whats broken before i order anyway.
Do you glue the gear in place or does it snap on? will i need any certain tool or supplies?

http://www.odometergears.com/audi.html</a
