Default Oh, wow. I am building a composite intake manifold

It might be a little ugly, but it will be the perfect shape for my configuration and it will be el-cheapo! I just needed to know that it could be done....And DUH, yes I know this wont fit my car, this is just an example. duh. This is for a tubo Lotus Esprit.

In my opinion the hp that the composite manifold gives you isn't worth it if it looks like total ****. Thumbs down!

Default gives me more than HP...

It solves MANY configuration problems and some things that make engineers go "ICK!", such as the intake pipe passing over the exhuast manifold....I could make it look somewhat better than total ****.

Default Dude.....

..isn't your time worth more than the $500-$700 that is being asked for the Wager IM?

Believe me, plug and forget is what you want.

This project of yours is going to turn out to be something that you'll be second guessing everytime you feel (or imagine) any sort of powerloss/rough running etc etc.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for originality and going against the "norm", but it just doesn't make sense in every single case.
This one included.

Default I agree

I haven't seen an intake manifold that really works with a good FMIC except for the SQ intake manifold. The Wagner isn't bad, but it puts the TB a bit too far forward and to the right. It doesn't look that great either.

Try mimicking one of the S1 intake manifolds. Are you using a lost wax type method? Parrafin wax would guarantee you a super smooth inside surface. Then some carbon fiber. Top it off with fine stuff. It'll make people drool!

Default As a matter of fact I do...

I can go measure the one on my car if you need some numbers. The water manifold is integrated, but you can use the picture to judge where to place the TB. Look for pictures of S1 manifolds. They would look very good in composites.

Default Yes and this IM is not going to work with you setup...

unless you shave the water manifold ports off of the manifold, yes the WM is built into the IM. It's a very pricey piece, it requires mods to the manifold, it requires the SQ throttle body, though the gasket for the manifold are no list, and so forth. It's a total no go on the SQ IM unless you want big mods and have big money.

I suggest you pick up one of the million Wagner intakes that are on Ebay every 7 days. If everybody waited their turn they would be going for $100 each probably, the seller obviously has loads of the manifold considering they pop up immeadiately after one sale is finished. Hell a similar IM from Dahlback is 2-3 times the prices I've seen on Ebay.

Personally I'd just go RS2, if it was good enough for Audi/Porsche it's good enough for me until I want a custom FMIC and 400bhp+.

Cheers,
