Default Oil cooler thermostat...

Is it integrated into our oil cooler? Removable?

Hap, are you running a stat on yours?

I may just buy a Mocal one, but curious as to whether ours is even removable. I don't even see the thing.

Default usually it's part of the sandwich plate that goes between the block and filter

you should definitely retain the t-stat because it brings the oil up to temp faster and you also don't need to cool cold oil. This is especially important if you're still gonna run two oil coolers.

i have a Mocal oil cooler core with fittings if you're interested. It's in great condition.

Default Yeah, I've got the cooler, but.....

We don't have a sandwich plate on the AAN. The oil lines come from the drivers side, not near the oil filter.

Default you sure?

i was just checking all the hose clamps to make sure they were tight and the oil filter is on the passenger side and there is a sandwich plate.

Default Oops, I meant drivers side - (edit) I swear they come from the driver's side.

Look under your car. On mine I thought I recalled the oil lines coming from the drivers side of the block, not the passenger side where the oil filter is.

Default You are right - by design the sandwich under the filter contains the thermostatic valve ...

which controls flow to the O.C. ergo the OC lines will always go to the Filter/Thermostat Sandwich.

Normally the valve is open allowing oil to return through the Filter bypassing the OC

At >8x C the valve closes and flow is directed through the O.C. first

Example : RS4 OC is a Sandwich Thermostat on top of stock S4 Cooler
