Default Apparently VW Golfs and Passats use a CPS with what looks like a 2AV54 Hall Effect Switch

You might want to explore that route... otherwise germanautoparts has the correctly mounted part for ~$200 USD. The alternative is to get the one listed below for less and pop rivet it in yourself!

A gentlemen on Audifans obtained a rotor arm for a Volvo from about 1988 - uses exact same hall device - for cdn$50. Removed it and placed it on to mounted bracket with SS pop rivets and it works!

http://www.germanautoparts.com/Volkswagen/Passat/EngineElectrical/45/3</a

Also, there is a replacement which is a virtual copy of the CPS for only $13 from Cheng Yang in N.Y. at 801-938-4722 or www.bbautomacao.com.Exact same size,no fitting to do.HTH

Default Yup, I was in contact with them, the 2AV54 is not a direct replacement...

it is physically different, however the mounting holes are in the same location, but the vane opening is 2mm further ahead. Since there is a lot of play in how you position the CPS and the electrical characteristics are the same both units should be a suitable replacement.
