The astute observer will note that the green urS4 in the above picture is facing the wrong way. If you click on the image, then click again for the full size image, take a look under the front of my car.
It appears that the short coolant hose that runs from the water manifold under the intake manifold to the hard turbo coolant line burst while I was going down the front straight. I think the reason I spun out in turn 1 is probably that my outside rear wheel drove over a coolant puddle. It seemed to happen in the blink of an eye.
That added a little excitement to my second day at Lime Rock. Thanks to the help of many people I was able to get a new hose installed before my next run. Not a very fun job, changing that hose on a hot engine. The car seems fine, even though it did a full lap (slowly) with practically no coolant.
The really annoying thing about this incident is that hose burst on me last summer as well. Since I wasn't very close to home at the time, I had it towed to an independent Audi shop, where they replaced the line with rubber fuel hose. It was totally shot after one year, and came out of the car in about five pieces. So the moral of this story is: make sure you use a high pressure / high temperature hose in this location, and most definitely not rubber fuel line.
I hope Peter Barada doesn't mind me linking to his photo on his web site.

And the astute observer will also notice the car that is avoiding you by using the overrun at the end of the main straight at LRP. Note that he's standing on the brakes pretty hard due to the amount of front end dive.
And no, I don't mind the link to my website...
