Shifter is really notchy in 2nd and worse going into 3rd
Is this misalignment or possibly low oil level? I will be checking it out tomorrow, but advance wisdom from the collective is never a bad thing!
Also, there are occasions where it is tough to get into 1st at a light, but wiggling the shifter seems to solve it.

Linkage getting tired? I just purchased a short shift kit thru 034...I have 132k...these things were "spongy" when they were new...at least compared to my ex-e36 M3.

Redline MT90 in the trans, Redline 75w90 in the rear diff.
Some local guys here had a trans oil changing party a while back. The car in front of me having it's trans oil changed was a 2003 A4 1.8T, his oil came out dirty, but still slightly golden.
The oil in my car was completely black. Nasty lookin'.
1st driving impressions were 1st gear was much easier to get into, especially in cold weather.
I dunno, trans oil change won't break the bank, worth a shot maybe.

I just bled my brake system, including the slave cylinder, my gears are shifting better now.
I had changed the gear oil as well which does help. But i still have issues getting into 1st from time to time. hasnt happened since my bleeding. and the calipers weren't too dirty, but the stuff that came out of the slave was black, so it hadn't been done for a while.
