I have slow front seat belt retractors. I read on another forum that this can occur when the belts get stiff from being dirty and cleaning teh belst will help. Anyone try this, or can you add spring tension to the retractor? Thanks.

This was partly because I was changing the interior over from ecru to black, but also because I decided that the alternatives (dyeing the existing belts, buying "used" seat belts from a wrecked car!) were not a prudent way to save $$. The new driver's seat belt worked much better- it didn't just fix the retraction issue, it also pulled much smoother and was easier to "set". Not the cheapest route, but R&R was pretty easy (you have to pull the door scuff plate and both of the B pillar trims) and only took about 20 minutes per side.

Thanks for the info, I think that I will try cleaning the belts, but will also plan on replacing with new ones.
