smog braintrust: what would cause high hydrocarbons at idle?

Mike is onto something w/ the plugs, I'll try it tomorrow. mine fails too...
has ever since I chipped it.
here's what I've done in the past to get it to pass: New plugs, and o2 sensor, also run it almost out of gas, then put a few galloms of lower octane fuel (87 or 88). Stay outta the boost and go get your IM test. make sure the motor is nice and warm. or if you are in the situation, during the test procedure, whenever the test drops to idle, hold the test probe about 1/2 in the path of the exhaust. ( so it gets a little fresh air). HTH
