Now i'll assume i'll get the wiring and the long rail piece from 034 and the long clylinders is what I was told by 034 to get from a dealer. So now I have what i understand to be the coils, they're chrome and fancy looking, as opposed to the stock ones which are wrapped in rubber, I assume I dont have to cover these? Jw before i put them in and ruin something ^.^ - TIA

Link to what i got:

htt p://www.034motorsport.com/product_info.php?cPath=26&products_id=450</a

Default yup, you need 5 coils, latest revision(part number ends in 115R).

You have to trim the rubber at the top, where the metal part ends and the plastic begins. They should snap right on top of the spark plugs. None of the metal parts need to be covered. HTH.

Default You are confused . That harness is for the 1.8t coil packs not the 034 High Output coil...

option(that requires the mounting "rail").

You will have to modify the 115 R coils when you get them from a dealer. Do NOT accept "J", "H" or "L" coils. The modifications are in the 1.8t coil pack conversion DIY instructions linked in the FAQ.

As a matter of interest, Apikol sells the complete 1.8t coil pack conversion kit, with the harness and five properly prepped coil packs for $389.

https://www.apikol.com/#Products,Engine,21</a

Is the Apikol kit better?

Default Better?

How about the same, same coils, same plugs, just a different manufacturer

Default It's complete and I have heard of no complaints. But remember...

this conversion is only good for up to RS2 levels and even then not with any significant track time. Lots of boost (as on a track) = lots of heat = potentially cooked 1.8t coils. Under normal and even "spirited" driving (when you aren't always in the boost), the conversion is a cost effective solution to replacing the entire OE POS and coil-on-plug system. Having said that, the OE system is very robust.

The 034 High Output system is good for more than RS2 levels and probably tracking. That said, it is not necessarily perfect (I have seen pictures of failures on the S2 forum). I understand 034 is dealing with any HO coil problems that may have occurred in a timely and professional manner.

034 does not supply coil packs. Apikol supplies prepped coil packs.

Default I would say yes, because...

...it's all-inclusive, and it's not up to you to trim the plastic on the coils so that they fit down on the plugs.

Default You'll have to trim the 1.8 t coil packs as shown in the photo inside

You probably should also read the instructions in the FAQ on why they need to be trimmed and how to test that you have trimmed them enough, i.e. they snap onto the spark plug.
