I saw few posts that claimed that you need to remove/lower bolt that holds steering damper to rack due to clearance issue.
I was able to do it without it:

- rotate steering wheel all the way to the left, so you can get better access to the nut and remove the nut at the rack bracket;

- rotate steering wheel all the way to right;

- remove the bolt that hold the dumper to the body;

- Now, notice a slight curve on the body right above the bolt at the rack, it will let you wigle old dumper out and put new one in;

I also added thread lock to bolt at the body and nut at the rack.
Took about 10-15min.

I think you meant "damper" not dumper. Although my damper did take a dump a year or so ago.

VW Fox 1988-1992, Autohauz has it cheap for $20, but they are out of stock. Got mine at SJM for $32.
