Default Stromung vs custom exhaust??

I am thinking about buying a full stromung exhaust, turbo to tail. The cost is 1500 or I could but an 034 down pipe for 500 and then buy a borla muffler for 150. Then have to pay for 3in pipe and then labor to have it all welded up. Any ideas? Anyone have a stromung that they like? I will like to have the opinions of all you guys. Thanks

You get what you pay for. If you don't mind droning go the cheap route. STFA for all the info

Default Re: Stromung vs custom exhaust??

One thing I can say is the Stromung sounds great but no drone and not too loud---but louder/sportier than stock. For me, I want a car that looks sounds/stock (or close to) but is fast as hell. I don't want to advertise. I have enough people who want to race. I've had many exhausts over the years including ones that set off car alarms and I have to say that Stromung is the best of both worlds for my taste. I like the sound of straight pipes on a big V8 but I wouldn't want to live with them every day. Am I getting old?

Default Yes.

You *are* getting older.

But we didn't buy these cars to make a ton of noise and have a lot of cabin drone.

Long-legged, fast Autobahn cruisers are what we have here. If you want a loud-*** can-of-bumblebees car, get a G60 Corrado and slap on one of those pimpin' pipes. Can't freakin' hear the stereo, at any volume, at WOT.

(Ask me how I know.)

Having class and getting older aren't the same thing. Even for a BMW-lover like yourself.

Default I lean heavily towards Strömung. If the custom exhaust isn't mandrel bent, forget it

Maybe if you are running a 2.6l engine and a massive turbo, a custom mandrel bent 120mm exhaust could make more sense. Have a seperate wastegate dump too.
