Default Is there any hydraulic fluid substitute that can be used in an emergency?

During a road trip Sunday, the ps pump developed a leak and the fluid level dropped below low mark causing brake light to stay on.

1) Is there a commonly available fluid that can be used in a pinch to top off the reservoir if CH11s is nowhere to be found on a Sunday?

2) Aside from the ugly noises, what type of damage did I potentially incur driving back 2.5 hrs (~150 miles) home withe the fluid ~1" below the low mark? Pump, yes, going to replace anyway. Steering rack? Anything else?

Thanks in advance,
Mike

I don't know, but FWIW the 11S can be found at Porsche dealers.

Default I always make sure I have some CH11 on hand in the garage

keeping some in the car would be a good idea. I keep at least a quart of oil stowed with the spare tire. I think I'll add CH11 to the other stuff I carry in the trunk.

Default Thanks. Had extra CH11 at home, but, in the woods on Sunday afternoon no parts stores...

or VW or Porsche parts dept's to be found.

I'll be sure to carry a can in the car too now!

Fuchs Titan ZH 4300 B has the same spec. (VW TL 52146) as CH11S and G002000
