Ok, so I got all excited to go see what my new car could run... and come to find out the damn track is an EIGHTH MILE!!!!!!!!!
Oh well, it was damn cheap and I was there, so I might as well have some fun. I decided to work hard on my launches since I have never launched an AWD car before, and it is quite a bit harder than I expected.
My first run was a .3639 R/T, 2.338 60 foot, and 9.64 E/T with a trap speed of 74.14. There are charts to work that out to a rough estimate of your 1/4 mile speed and I am in the high 14's with that.
My best run (my seventh and last) was as follows, but the R/T pissed me off...
R/T .4178
60' 2.0992
330' 6.0997
1/8th E/T 9.3011
TRAP: 76.79
That 1/8th mile E/T works out to a 14.536 on most of the charts I have found, but I really want to know what the trap speed would work out to be. I am guessing around 115-120, but who knows. <--- EDIT: I was way off on this, my apologies!
My best R/T of the night was a .2069 and my worst was the last run with a .4178, but I think overall it was a great night of learning about my new car!
I have a few videos if you would like to see them I could upload them for you.

car would only be in the high 90's at best.
By the way, all those launches weren't good for your clutch (or the first gear in your tranny for that matter). As they say, "Miss Piggy was built for comfort, not for speed" (well not drag racing at 3900 lbs anyway).
Clutch kits cost about $400 plus 8 hrs labour.

As for the clutch I was pretty much doing "stoplight starts" and starting a bit earlier on the tree to make up for it, nothing too brutal on the clutch. I did try it once from about 3500 and feathered it out, that got me 2 tenths on my 60 foot!
As for the clutch... labor is on me, I pay no one to do that stuff! :-)
I don't plan on making a habit of this, but it was nice to see what the car can do with some actual numbers to bear it out. Up until now it was just the old butt dyno, which is in serious need of calibration since I was told yesterday I need to have back surgery!

launching technique that gave them 0-60 in 6.1 secs (faster than any other magazine tests).
Unless you are at least chipped (can't tell from your sig), 108 is "dreamingly" high. Sean D. (quattro20v) is RS2'd (298 hp at the wheels) and his best run (3rd run ever at the strip)was: Run #3: R/T .658, 60' 2.530, 1/4 14.523, MPH 101.71 (See thread below).
In the same thread, germantoy whose avant was well worked over had a 12.9@103.5 with a 1.6 60 ft. (also in the thread).

quattro20v's drag strip experience - follow the entire thread

Trap speed is a very good idicator of how much power your car is making since it changes very little in regard to ET. ET will change quite a bit depending on launch and traction. According to my G-tech my S6 runs the 1/4 mile in 14.5 to 14.7 @ 95-97mph and my Corrado runs only 2 10ths quicker at 14.3 with very limited traction. The true story in in the Corrado trap speed of 102. If I could get that FWD to hook up the ET would be much lower.

this is the way I bought the car by the way...
RS2'd by Hoppen Motorsports
Pastore map... forget which one, the 400 I think
Stromung exhaust
H&R/ Bilstein suspension
and I was on reasonably grippy 17x9 Kumho street tires, plus the track was pretty well prepped too.
I have no aspirations of making this into some 10 second Fast and Furious car, I just went to see what it could do since I only bought it a few weeks ago and it felt pretty dang quick to me. I am quite happy with how things went, and if my 1/4 trap is under 100... who really gives a crap, it is all just for fun anyway!

there is BP370 (aka "pingmeister" IME). At 370 hp you are running out of turbo. Sean D. at our March 2006 dyno day, running real Dahlback (MTM) software did 297 at the wheels (we think 370 crank)while Dave L. running BP370 with 9L of tolune in with 71 L of Chevron 94 (to kill the pinging) ran 317 hp at the wheels (at it was very scary to watch) which would convert to about 396 hp at the crank. Close to 400 but under special circumstances.
So..if you want to get to 108 mph trap speed, I think you need to go to a paint store and buy some toluene.

Vancouver S-car club dyno day results

No way a 300whp car should be in the mid-14's no matter how hefty it is.
I agree though, if the car's doing mid 14's I'm betting its probably not even going over 100mph.
I'm curious what the "brutal" launching technique used was? I had thought the hardest launch you could do was to lock the diff's and sidestep the clutch at "X" rpms. No?
