Again, he stayed pretty far ahead of me, so can't be sure. Doubt he was going to Haps, as I live about a mile from Haps' house, and he did not head in that direction.

-1) Keep Underhood temps lower for my Dahlback Intake
-2) Help prevent potential cracking of RS2 Manifold
-3) May help with quicker spool-up by keeping the heat in the manifold vs. leaking it.
-4) Damn it looks good...standard non-coated manifolds get pretty ugly w/ heat and age

But Sulzer Metco, ALD, TMT are all examples of companies with real experience in high end TBC's.
It sounds like your requirement was a TBC that looked good first and had thermal barrier properties second. It shouldn't flake and should last basically forever. At $115, that is a good price.
Personally I think HPC and Swaintech have better barrier coatings in the automotive segment, but they have nothing that looks that nice since I have looked at that class of TBC's. Though it has been a while. I'm also saying Jet-Hot isn't crap just that their are better performers out there IMO.
If your going hybrid, coat it. It should knock down you're bonnet temperatures nicely.
Your car sounds awesome. I love the old I5's, they are amazing pieces of work. :-)

I had Jet-Hot coat my 2-piece MC manifold, and the choices for the higher temp coating were like black, gray, or blue. They told me the shiny stuff wasn't available in the higher temp application, which is the Sterling stuff. I even had to ship it to Louisiana or wherever east of here, because the Tempe, AZ location didn't do the higher temp coating.
So, my question is how come yours is shiny like that if it is supposedly the higher temp stuff? I chose blue for mine, btw.
Thanks,
Ken

It is only rated to 1300 deg; (Sterling) so we will see if there is any flaking or discoloration after we get her bolted on. Speaking w/ the tech over there he said they havent had any problems with the above issues for my application..so guess we will just have to wait and see.
