Default Well,Brad atleast we begin some cheap experiment though...

I forget to tell you that the pits on the cylinder walls is not that bad as you've seen in the picture.I use the mobile phone took it since I popped the head off because my car blown the coolant.we doubted that it might be from the blown head gasket.finally,it was from
viscous coupling fan :-(.
The pits is just very thin even I used my hand rubbed on it.

Default I wouldn't worry about the block yet.

If it hasn't died yet, its going to keep going along time.

Default If it's Pit's or scratches on the Cyl wall, try a can of "Restore." I know you're all going

<center><img src="http://www.restoreusa.com/images/restore-left-1.jpg"></center><p>
to Poo-poo me...but the stuff works as a temporary solution to scratched or pitted walls.

Call it Snake Oil, or Voodo...but unless you've tried it please don't discount it. I've used it on my old '79 Blazer, and my 16V Jetta with great results. Both burned about a quart between oil changes and burned closer to a 1/4 quart after...which I would consider normal for 3000 miles.

I felt a slight increase in power also. Due to better compression is my guess.

Not a Perm fix mind you.<ul><li><a href="http://www.restoreusa.com/">Click for Restore web site.</a></li></ul>

Default Normally,I have no problem on oil consumption...

I used to run a thin 5W-50 Synthetico oil under 90F-100F+ Degree in Thailand . the oil consumption rate is around 0.75-1L :6,250 Miles.
I know "BARDAHL" Voodoo oil.

Default Doesn't that stuff just basically thicken the oil to slow leaks?

Switching from 0w-40 to 20w-50 should have similar results.

IIRC that stuff is like honey. I think there's even a brand called Motor Honey.

Default yes...it will thicken the oil a bit, but it also has chemicals that actually fill the scratches..

so it's benefits are 2 fold.

You're only adding a half quart of the stuff, the the increase in viscosity is minimal.

Just throwing it out there and saying it worked for me in the past on cars that have had well over 150K on the ODO.
