Default Above 400 crank hp typically starts to be change the rods range.

So 360 to 380 whp is definitely rod upgrade time. Or you can just try it without the Pauter (etc) rods and report back.

I can hardly wait bent-rod-boy.

Default I dont think anyone really knows the limit yet

the reason I say that is there are reports of people breaking rods around the 400whp mark.

The question is, how well was the car tuned when it broke the rod? With a well tuned motor I think the rods on these motors are stronger than we give them credit for.

I haven't dynod my car yet but I look forward to doing so.. I hate using my butt dyno but I'd wager the car is at very least well over 300whp.

One of these days I'd like to get to Tony's shop to get some numbers on the car.

People use our rods in VAG 16vT motor applications and get 500+whp put of them.

Default Searching other AW forums reveals reports of rods through blocks at high 300s w/ good tune

Either way, to get in this sort of range or higher you are counting on an incredible tune for daily reliability. You may as well toss in the cost of complete standalone setup and a pro tuner such as Javad ($200+ USD per hour) + getting your car to him and all of the associated labor/time.

If you don't get a good tune, don't say you weren't warned when you destroy your bottom end and possibly even damage your head while you're at it.
