Default If it went in the car once, it can be taken out. (Sometimes with difficulty). The seats...

have to come out (well at least one front and probably both fronts). But if you are changing the carpet, they're out anyway. Skollie is the man. Changed everything IIRC.

Default Carpet?

I did a swap on a 200. Every piece but the headliner was swapped over. The carpet appears to be installed BEFORE some of the wires above the tunnel behind the AC/stereo area. I had to make a cut down carpet on top of the tunnel to get it out around some of the wires. But, it goes back in and tucks up there so far behind the other trim panels it'll never be an issue.

Default Skollie (the missing), replaced his carpet but IIRC I think he TOTALLY gutted the interior, ...

including the dash, console, everything. The guy's a maniac.

But the end product, with a S6 black leather interior and carbon fibre trim, is impressive. (I don't even like black interiors but his looks good - maybe its the cyclamen paint). ;&gt

Default It depends on how complete a job you want to do, and what colors you're going from/to...

From the beltline up, there are only 2 interior trim schemes (in NA)- ecru or platinum. Ecru cars got ecru trim from the beltline up, but anthracite and platinum cars both got platinum, so if you're going from platinum to black, you just swap everything from the beltline down and you're done. When I changed the interior in my 95.5 from ecru to black, I didn't bother to swap anything from the beltline up, and it looks fine to me.

If you decide to change out the entire interior, the only thing that doesn't come out easily is the headliner- it's glued to the sunroof casette, and the Bentley says cut it to pieces to remove it. You might be able to get it out without cutting it with careful use of a heat gun, but then again maybe not.

Thanks UrScrubed... that's really good information as I'd be going from platinum to black.

Default Good news. One other point- most, but not all, trim is interchangeable between sedans & avants.

The door panels and most interior trim is interchangeable- AFAIK, everything from the rear doors forward is pretty much identical, but be aware that there were minor changes year to year and that the C-pillar trim (aft of the rear door) is very different in an avant vs. a sedan.

After much searching, I finally got correct door panels for my 95.5 (black cloth, with 2 speakers) out of a 97 Avant, even though most junkyards assured me they wouldn't work ;-)
