Default What oil weight to use?

I tried to searched but it's messed up

I live in the Rocky Mountain region. I have been using Mobil 1 synthetic oil (10/30w)in my urS6. I checked Mobil 1 web site and it suggests 0/40w???

http://www.mobiloil.com/usa-english/....aspx?option=1

What synthetic oil weight is everyone using???

BTW - I dislike this new web forum format

0w-40 is too thin for out here in CO. I've used it and 10w-40 in my car. The 10w is fine for out here but I'm going to 5w-40 next change. I think this is the best 'all around' weight.

I used some of my friend's 10w 50 Elf Elexium.

It gave me a nice 2 bar of oil pressure at idle when warmed up. 10w 40 tends to give me a little under. I figure the bold line is at 2 bar so that is what the car wants.

I use silkolene pro 10w 50 here in the uk all year round, the 20v 5cld works better with a touch thicker oil.The silkolene is a highly developed easter based oil with protective additives far superior to mobil one, that i used religiously for years before.

Here's my question. I really like Royal Purple, but it has some smaller ranges available

It’s available in 0W40, 5W20, 5W30, 5W40, 10W30, 10W40, 15W40, 20W50, SAE 30, SAE 40 and SAE 50 weights.

Would any of these be usable?

5w40 should be good to go.

Yup. Mebbe slightly thinner in the winter if you don't have a garage.
