whoa, this 1.8 wastegate spring is a lot bigger than I had thought, damn

the feeling is like you have a new and twice bigger turbo, isn't it?
I don't really understand why the Audi engeneers assembled that "weak" original spring on our engines?...

I'll say! The mid range power difference is something else! I've been wasted by Adrianno!
Adrianno was kind enough to send me one of the waste spring setups he put together. The wire is thicker than the stock (by about 2x) and needed the custom spring seats he also sent along. It is also somewhat shorter than the stock. As it is thicker - the preload is just about the same when installed.
First test drive was a little more power than stock - nothing special. Stopped a mile out - and gave the seat one turn in. (NOTE - Remove the dwell plug on the cap over the adjuster - don't bother just drilling. Now dig ALL of the glue out of the hex socket - and use a dental tool at the top of the threads. Now use a socket - NOT a key to turn the adjuster - don't strp it out like others have done! - Work the adjuster back & forth as you turn - you do not want to tear the diaphram! - add a dab of grease between the adjuster & the upper seat.)
OMFG!!!!!
Power comes on NOW!!! It's like 50 extra HP from 3k to 6k. Top end is about the same - as the turbo is still topped out at redline.
WOW! This is the easiest - most productive - inexpensive mod you can do!
And gas milage has not been hurt! This puts the FUN back in AAN.

Where did you buy your spring? Does your car have to be chipped to make a diffrenece? I am going to hold off on the Chip until i know it is not going to snow here any more, but if i cna make a small mod now, I will.
