The MTM 1+ on my 96 car worked perfectly fine with the original coil set, the same ECU in my 97 didn't with the second set. This is a very odd issue. I'm almost wondering if it isn't voltage regulator related now. Since someone mentioned it I've noticed my voltage reading dropping to as low as 12.1 V with the A/C running. I am going to source a new regulator and give the new set of coils a go with my 034 chipset, although I currently have no missing issues with the stock coils at all.
I want to say that Marc has been above and beyond in his customer service through everything and I'm sure this has cost him mucho dinero with shipping and warranty on coils. If the voltage regulator doesn't work I'll ship this set back to you Marc (unless you have any other ideas).

I haven't been monitoring voltage on my 93 S4. Sounds like I need to do some additional data collection. I had forgotten your 1st car was MTM 1+. There goes that theory. This must be something simple....

I'm going to give the regulator a shot and see what happens.......still waiting to hear back from VM autohaus on availabilty and price for the S6
