Default 1.8T coils are in and car runs much better........

Got the 1.8T coils in last night. Car is back to its old self - got boost again!!!!!!!!!

I ended up at $193 for the whole thing - not bad - however I did use junkyard 3-pin connectors that were free and I still need to upgrade to the Volvo 4-pin connectors which are about $20.

See if this link works - got some pictures.

I used a OEM 1.8T replacement harness as a starting point which costs $38. I had to strip it down so that I could determine how it was designed. Turns out the chassis grounds are spliced together, power pinsare spliced together, and ECU grounds are are spliced together and all run to the correct coil pins so this was a pretty strait forward mode. I cut the harness to length and used to left over wires to wire up the 5th coil connector. So the 5th coil wire sizes and colors are the same as cyl 1-4.

http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w193/a911sc/?albumview=link&special_track=nav_album_album</a

Default Nice DIY. good to know.. i love it when...

someone takes a chance and tries something different and it ends up being less expensive... for "virtually" the same product. For the sake of the enthusiast with a budget in mind, its nice to know this option is now out there.

I particularly liked the fact that the factory used common ground and power leads.

Thanks Dave - your work was the key or we would be stuck with OEM.........
