In July I blew a spark plug out of the head and do not know what to do with the car. A dealer wanted way too much and another dealer mentioned fixing the original head by doing a healer coiler. Does anyone have any experience with this type of problem? The car has been very well maintained and has been in the same family for 167,000 miles. I just leased a new 1.8 A4 but I am just not ready to part without this car. Any advise would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

I don't actually know if a heli-coil is ideal on a turbo car, but you can find a used/new-ish head if you look around. Find an independant German car shop with good references and you will have much better luck and save $$$. Where are you, by the way?

I popped the hood to discover plug number 5 was higher than the rest. I thought the wire needed to be snapped into place. Unfortunately, the plug was just loose in the hole when I tried to tighten it. What a terrible feeling!
I ended up using a Time-sert and the repair is still fine. No need to remove the head or weld anything. I would at least try that first, and if you have further problems at least you have tried.
Preventative-wise, I think some anti-seize on the threads, as well as not over-torquing is the solution.
I didn't use anti-seize on my, but I didn't think I over-torqued the plugs either. Nowadays I am certainly more torque-conscious tho'!

The car is in Newark, NY (between Rochester & Syracuse) but I live in Hyde Park, NY. Do you happen to know of anyone looking for a project? Thanks for the advice. I am also a little wiery of trying to fix the hole because I really enjoy driving it hard and fear that it may give. However, it might be a very economical way to go, at least in the short run.

Ken:
I know the feeling of a sick Audi. I was in the process of accelerating in third gear to get on the NYS Thruway when I immediately felt a power loss. When I pulled the car over and popped the hood I almost cried when I saw oil all over the engine.
I appreciate the advice. Nice looking Audi!
