Need a little help. My S6 has now started to flash the coolant warning light after running for a few minutes - although it flashes "OK' at start-up. Water temp gauge seems to work and only gets to the first dark line after about 10 miles, but I was driving very conservatively to get home. Coolant level in reservoir is fine. Oil temp is fine. Outside temp was 60 deg F and at that temp the coolant gauge normally will barely get off the pin under normal conditions. I did not notice that radiator fan started up at all. My initial guess is stuck thermostat or other coolant flow restriction. OR could it just be the fan is not running? Suggestions? Tests? Thanks.

a wiring/connector problem related to the above. The coolant warning goes off when the coolant level is low (per the tank float) or when the multifunction temperature sender (on the coolant manifold below the throttle body) signals the engine is too hot. If the gauge reads OK and the fans aren't on it's probably a false alarm.

Thanks. The gauge is actually indicating warmer than normal for routine driving. The coolant level is not low in the reservoir. When car is cold I'll try to see if the float moves freely (assuming this is possible through filler opening). I'll also confirm whether fans operate tomorrow after a short drive by letting it idle for a bit. Any tests for the MFTS?
