I'm in the process of getting myself a set of 7A cams. I've been sent pictures of a set and they seem OK but is there anything in particular that I should be looking for that could cause an issue? I'm told they have about 125K on them. The lobes seem fine but I want to make sure there isn't a common thing to look for that I'm missing. TIA

because if your not going over 400 wheel or putting a turbo bigger that a 30r and up theres no real need for 7a cams at all they will actually hurt you torque wise a little bit

set up will be 2.2, lower compression, sport quattro EM and 30R turbo. Thinking about the future when I redo the bottom end with forged rods/etc. So no real need until I go "nuts" huh?

I'm going for around 500whp in my UrQ, so I got a set. Having said that, I'd say you'd probably be safe with a 125k set having little wear. You can always have the lobes measured for tolerance at a machine shop before you buy. That would be the best solution if you're worried about it.
And Nick is also correct in that you do pick up a loss in torque down low. But honestly, my car is for the track and the increase in powerband up top is going to help me out. That, and the xtra rev bandwidth using the HD valve springs. AND it's making so much torque anyway in a relatively light quattro that the loss won't be that noticeable.
