I cannot seperate the front yoke of the driveshaft from the trans housing to get to the seal?? Can this be done with simple tools or should I take it to an Audi mechanic?? Is this a common problem with S4's? that trans oil smells when burning. T.I.A.

You have to remove the rear housing of the transmission. There is a snap ring on the inside of the housing that holds the yoke assembly in the housing.
Not difficult to remove but you will probably need a press to press the yoke out of the bearing.
You will need to have the seal and the o-ring between the housing and trans on hand before you start. You may wish to replace the bearing while you are disassembled as well. At lease have one on hand should it need replacement.
