Default Much easier to just replace the mast.

Look in the s-car-list archives from a few weeks ago for more info on that.

I think the real problem with the antenna is that it activates whenever the stereo is on, not just when the radio is selected. At least in my case that means that 99% of the time the antenna is up (and therefor getting dirty) it is not even being used.

Default my antenna was laying in the trunk in several pieces

when I got the car. I don't think a new mast is going to help ;-)

Default Have you considered on closing the antenna hole and getting ...

...out that old-fashioned antenna, mounting instead a roof one? Look at this pretty S4(not mine-I wish it was...)

Default yes, a better option no doubt....

I do hate power antennas that run up and down every time you use the car. Or a wiring change for the oem type fender mounted antenna so it comes up only with radio use would be ok too. Just checking out options.

Default

Unfortunately the stock HU doesn't appear to have a radio-only remote output signal.

Default I bought that last week from that guy, it is a universal and by no means works for our car

I ended up returning it to the guy and buying the OEM replacement mast. The link for the entire unit is below.

Default thanks. saves me the trouble of buying one only to return.

Looks like I better take a closer look at the antenna remains in the trunk.

Default I actually love my antenna...the mast jams up half way so it stops at the roofline..

Looks the way the factory should have made it, instead of 10 feet tall. ;-)
