Default or Eastwood Wrinkle Finish....

1) Remove parts to paint
2) Use a degreaser to clean parts to paint
3) Clean parts again VERY WELL with lacquer thinner.
4) Mist on a light coat to start building up the finish (primer not needed)
5) Make your first thick even coat
6) Wait 3 minutes and spray 1 more thick coat.
7) Allow to dry 12+ hours, I waited 24 and 3 days later is still smells horrbile.

Default is it possible to get that stuff off ???

previous owner did a crappy job on my cover. I'd like to do it again if I could get the old stuff off but I have a feeling it might be easier sourcing another cover. anyone have secrets for removal ?

Default Re: is it possible to get that stuff off ???

I would recommend a paint stripper. I've tried blasting it off and it's slow going.

Default A good stripper is always nice. The one I recommend is...

...Aircraft Remover. Yes, that's what it's called. It's also VERY nasty, as far as solvent content goes. DO NOT get it on your hands/face/tongue/wiener. Use neoprene gloves, if you can find them, and use in a WELL ventilated space. It works crazy-good, but you have to think about safety.

I'm a chemist, and I know some stuff about what's in there. I follow all the above precautions when I use it.
