the pipe leading from the engine bay, through the firewall. I was told the filter should be replaced, but I can find it! Is it inside the black plastic box? It seems to be sealed... Thanks for any clues.

the a/c system will have the same static pressure if it has a few ounces of r134a or a full charge. The only thing static pressure can tell you is if there is air or other gases mixed in with the r134a.

the low cost way to check refrigerant purity in my recovery tank is to take a accurate temp reading and pressure reading and then compare to the p/t chart. Should match if it's pure. Just like an a/c system, the pressure in my recovery tank will be the same if its 1/8 full or completely full.
The WRX is running as it should, no more mis-fire codes!<ul><li><a href="http://www.aircondition.com/pressure.htm">pressure/temp chart for r12, r134a</a></li></ul>

i got some cans and recharged it myself and it definitely works better than before. i didn't evacuate the system, i just filled it up until it was operating in the proper pressure range. From what i understand though, it seems that pressure doesn't correlate to charge level.
i'm just afraid to take it to a pro because he'll tell me i have a leak somewhere that will cost a rediculous amount of money to fix. I know the A/C isn't working at full power though.

R134a is cheaper than gasoline, almost. ![Smile](https://www.audiworld.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I had my 80q changed over to R134a after going through two full discharge and charge cycles where the A/C worked for about a week after each cycle. Been working like a champ since, even though the conversion cost $275.
