Default Almost lost a wheel on the highway.

Friday, on my way from Boston to NH I am stuck in traffic as a Honda SUV was on it's side in the middle of the highway. I notice a clicking coming from my front left wheel at 5mph that I don't notice at 90mph. I figure it is just my 2B springs as they make a lot of noise. About 1/2 hour later the steering feels kinda vague but it is sleeting out and there is a lot of crud on the highway. Then the vibration gets really bad. I pull off the highway and find all five wheel bolts are loose enough to wiggle with my finger. I just got it out of the shop and they had the 2 front wheels off. When I rocked the car, I could see the wheel moving. 3 bolts took 3 full turns to tighten.

Wow! You haven't had much luck with that car, but catching that could be your change of fortune.

Default Well, actually,it's 80 lb ft(110 Nm) And yes, clockwise (righty tighty) for the wrenching impared.

If you feel you need a FAQ for this, I'm sure we could have the staff here at STFA develop one with your name on it.

Default Make sure you specify they need to be tightened in a clockwise direction

That's the tricky part
