I have 928GTS big black calipers. I ordered pads for a 993tt and the part number on the box says they are the right pads, but they don't seem to be tall enough. The spring clip that retains the pads does not touch the top of the pad leaving about 1/2" of room that the pad could float. Is this normal or do I have the wrong pads in the right box?
The part numbers are different for 993tt and 928GTS pads, but I STFA and found posts that said they are interchangeable.

2 large, 2 smaller. stick them into the piston, then remove the paper on the back, exposing the sticky side. Slide the pad in and push it against the sticky side.
Are you replacing the pads or are you just now intstalling the BBK? are the old pads the same size as the new ones? i think they should still fit in there fine w/o the dampers. Maybe you got non-turbo pads or boxster pads? did you double check the PN?

The dampers aren't intended to locate the pad- the "shelf" at the inside of the caliper and the spring should do that.

If that's correct like I think it is these pads are wrong. Either Partsquick has the wrong part number in their database or the box was labled incorrectly by the manufacturer.

The spring clips do not hold the pads, they help keep them seated. There is a rod that runs through the caliper body and the top of the pads, this holds them

The part number I ordered is listed primarily as a front brake pad, but has fine print that says for this application it is a rear brake pad. Very confusing. I'm still stuck w/o the right pads. At least I'll get a full refund and just have to pay the return shipping (I didn't pay shipping on the original order.)
Also, I don't think PBR ceramic pads are available for the big black/red calipers. I need to choose a new compound
