Default bi-turbo 5-cylinder?

Has anyone ever encountered a bi-turbo 5-cylinder?
I want to say I read about a bi-turbo Sport quattro, but I could be wrong.
Just curious.

yeah, I figured that if one were to attempt something of the sort, it'd be best to go for the sequential set up... like have a stock turbo down-low, a large hybrid for the upper-end. either that, or have a supercharger pushing the low-end, and having a large turbo pick it up at the upper end.

i've read about Lancia [i think?] doing the super/turbo-charged thing back in the 80s. sounds intriguing.

Default Twin Charged

The Meguiar's Integra had a Super and Turbo charger and they called it "Twin Charged".

Default Yep

There has been one, maybe two of them, but they weren't quite sport quattros but rather S1s....

Audi dropped the idea though, dunno why but it could be due to the relative difficulty of feeding both hot sides with the same amount of exhaust gasses...

The turbos had the same cold side as the Audi 5000 turbo, i.e. K2664 cold sides (compressor map available on SJM's website)and they were supposedly 2 identical turbos but I have no idea with regards to the hot sides.

HTH,

Mihnea

I saw that Integra two or three years ago at an import car show in the meadowlands of NJ. pretty nutty. also saw a s/c'ed S2000 which was rather neat. i love those cars.

Mihnea, don't you think a sequential configuration would be better-suited for an odd-number-cylinder application?
i know mazda did this for the RX-7... [i think?]
