Thanks....
I could kick myself for selling it in the first place. Picked it up back in 1993......numbers matching. Body was really good.....old lady owned it since new......no joke. Paid $5K for it. Needed money after college and away it went. That's why I can never get rid of my Avant. 8^)

My sad muscle car story
My Dad's first new car was a 1967 Plymoth GTX 440, 4bbl. Copper brown w. black interior.
When Dad got tired of it, it went to my Uncle.
I bought it off my uncle in 84 and quickly decided that I could afford to keep it on teh road. In the days of $3.35 / hr minimum wage and $1.00/gal 93 octane, it would cost me 25 to 30 dollars a week to drive it.
Sold back to my uncle.
Dissappeared.
Would love to find this, restore it and give it back to my Dad.

My porc blue GTI was the only car I ever bought new.

Only sold it because of kids. I ordered silver, but none available.
punted and got the blue. no worries as I liked it better once delivered
only option was leather.
88k miles and 4 autocross championships and loved it all the way

Nice!! I have a pic of mine somewhere on the day I picked it up............

mine was a lemon.......loved the car itself but I had lots of issues. Had an oil sensor blow out at 30k miles......which dumped 4 quarts on the highway. Thank god I pulled over and shut it down ASAP. Had all kinds of coil issues too.........ended up getting a 00 S4 to replace it.

The bubble will keep bursting on all the usual US muscle stuff IMO..
Barrett Jackson should be blamed for a good portion of the run up as well, the stories of what goes on at that place are brutal. Craig Jackson is a brilliant businessman and promoter, but when '69 Z28 after Z28 blows through the six figure mark, someone needs to have their head examined. Talk about drinking your own Koolaid, as people tout these things as "rare". I don't know about you but I think 26,000 units is anything but.
The cars to watch are the less popular second cousins to the heavy hitters. ANY Ferrari 250, 330 or 365 coupe will be some serious money in the bank in 5-10 years and I personally think that 80's opulence will also be seriously collectible, with case and point being 80's Testarossa's, 328's and 308's. You can buy "red heads" all day long for $50-60K (nevermind that whole engine out 15K mile belt service though ;-). Twin Cam MGA's, MGC's, and any Austin Healey 3000 or 100/4, Series 1 or 1.5 XKE's will also be a very good investment in the long run. I firmly believe you will see series 1 4.2 XKE vert's hit VERY high 6 figure marks in our lifetimes.
I just worry about the classic American market when the Boomer buyers lose interest, as I'm not sure the following generations will appreciate the cars enough to support 6 or 7 figures for something banged out of Detroit in the 60's or 70's. I think Euro stuff will weather the storm better. IMHO of course.. ;-)
