Default 'bucking' problem

Over the past few days, I've been getting a very strange bucking problem.

I'll be driving along at normal speed and rpms (off boost) and then, out of the blue, I get a sudden bucking. It feels like a fuel cutoff caused by excessive boost, but it happens when I'm off boost. It only happens for a split second, but when it does, the RPMs go crazy (jump around) and the orange check engine light flashes.

It scares the crap out of me, because it happens all of a sudden during normal driving conditions. Thankfully, the car hasn't completely died on me yet, but it makes me nervous to drive it around.

Any thoughts?

I'm thinking that it's an ignition spark related issue. I have the 1.8T coil setup. Spark plugs were replaced 20K miles ago.

Thanks for your help.

Default Pull the boot back on both of your flywheel sensor plugs against the firewall...

and look for broken separators between the pins in that plug.

Cheers,

Check all your ignition connections. Sounds like the coils are losing power at the firewall.

Sounds like another plausible cause: Lost of ignition trigger signal.
