Default Can the rear diff disengage speed be changed?

I don't want to change it to 80 or anything, but 20 is a little low in stop and go traffic. If there is a write-up that I missed, please let me know.

Thanks - Tom

Default the control unit thing for it is under the back seat.

i've been told that cutting the white and blue wire makes it so that it will remain locked until you unlock it. No sure, but maybe if you put some kind of resistor on the wire, it might change the speed. I have no idea how it's actually wired, though.

Default Cutting the wire will disable the disable. A resistor won't change the disable speed.

It's a pulsed signal, frequency proportional to road speed. You would need to build a divider to change the disable speed. It would be a fun electronics project for someone, maybe. (I'd just cut the wire. You will remember you left it on the next time you try to turn. Besides, the ABS OFF light will be on.)

Why does the ABS turn off when the rear diff is locked?

Default

Coupling the two rear wheels together confuses the impending lockup detection algorithm I guess.

Default the system turns it off

it assumes that if you locked the diff, you are on a slippery enough surface that ABS won't help. Older audis have a switch on the dash to turn off the ABS, as it is actually faster to stop in deep snow, sand, mud by locking up the wheels than to keep pulsing them.

Default maybe, but you gotta remember that pre-edl cars have 3 channel abs

where even if one rear wheel locks up, it's pulsing both. I imagine the locked diff wouldn't mess it up.
