CEL came on while driving, car wont restart, found code 4411- HELP! :-)
Oh so fun news this morning, I'm headed to Toledo
from KAlamazoo when the CEL light comes on. I
have a CPS on it's way and decide it's not worth
gambling having the car not start when I'm so far
from home.
Turn around and head back, shut the car off and
it won't restart. I read the codes and find
code 4411, which per www.sjmautotechnik.com is:
4411 (Blink Fault Code), 01249 VAG1551/2 Fault Code Number
Fuel Injector for Cylinder 1, (N30)
Open or short circuit, +12V supply circuit breaker or fuse open
Symptom: Engine runs rough or stalls
OK, this doesn't seem to explain the car not
restarting, I alreayd have a CPS on it's way is
there something else I should be looking at?
I do have a set of stock fuel injectors, should
I swap out fuel injector #1?
Sure could use some help on this as I have to
drive to Toledo 2-3 times a week and need to
cure this no restart problem.
Thanks
Chris

One fuel injector should not prevent your car from starting..unless there is a short as possibly indicated by your code. Maby check the fuel pump fuse #17 if thats not blown check the 5A fuse above the ECU, hidden in the passengers side foot well. The SJM site shows locations and trouble-shooting.

Car wont restart update
Gentz,
I just went out to the car, it started with no hesitation.
This leads me to believe it's not a fuel pressure problem as
it hardly cranked and started.
There was the suggestion that it could be a damaged flywheel pin, which I hadn't thouught of because the car stays running and seems to re-start
after sitting for about an hour.
Also there weren't any codes to read.
Any ideas?
Thanks
Chris

You have the Robert Myers CPS Failure Syndrome (RMCPSFS)
Chris: I am now convinced that you have the Robert Myers' version of the Cam Position Sensor
failure: car stops running or won't restart but if let to sit for awhile, it does restart. Bob and the forum (and me offline) went around and around on that. He never had a 2113 CPS fault code but yet when his CPS was changed for a new one, all his problems went away.
There is a trick on the S2 forum when this happens: pour water down the front of the cam cover (to cool the CPS). I think your hour wait did the same thing.
Suggest that you rent a car for your next Toledo trip until you can get the CPS changed.
