Default Connecting VAG-COM help

I've STFA with no luck, I'm sure it's there and I'm just using the wrong key words.

I'm attempting to connect up to the car with VAG-COM with no luck, the program isn't finding the adapter. I x-checked the hardware on an OBD2 A6 and everything is working good, so I assume it is my wiring. I am using jumper wires to go from the black and white diagnostic connectors to the OBD2 connector on the Ross-Tech. What I believe the correct pin-outs to be:
On Car
Black = Power and Ground
White = K-Line and L-Line
On OBD2 Connector
Pin 5 = Ground
Pin 16 = Power
Pin 7 = K-Line
Pin 15 = L-Line

Does that sound right? Thanks for any info.

Default is this a mickey-mouse home brew adaptor? or the "real" one from Ross-TECH. They have security

embedded into the dongle adapter preventing you from doing something such as what it sounds like you describe.

Pictures of what you have or are using would be helpful.

If you have all the correct pieces everything works tickity-boo (I know b/c I have the Ross-Tech stuff)

Default I had a similar issue, turned out the label on the car was backwards...

look at the wires that lead to the OBD terminals and see what color the positive and negative terminal are

Default Ross-Tech stuff from computer to OBDII connector, Home Brew from OBDII to Car

I thought the security dongle was in the computer to OBDII connector, and adding wires wouldn't matter. That is all that Ross-Tech adapter is, three connectors and four wires.

Default On mine at least, the wiring goes Computer -> Funky Ross-tech connector, then dongle is:

Funky Ross-Tech connector -> ODB1 K+L connectors.

So yea I guess I can't be of more help. Something in your wiring must be screwy =P

this is my second dongle that I kept talking about:
