I started a 2001 A4 a while back at a garage with the help of a jump box. You have to press the clutch or it wouldn't turn over. How annoying.

with the shifter to make sure it's on neutral before starting and it lets time to the fuel pump to build pressure if required since I put it to "on" before playing with the shifter.
I also like the idea of having the transmission's internals starting to rotate slowly with the starter speed.

That's one thing I really miss about the urS...and cars before it. Nothing like going out the garage on a cold morning to fire up the car before you get dressed and finding that you have to place your boxer short clad *** on an ice cold seat to push the clutch in to start the car. This world has been dumbed down for morons.
The A4 requires this.
Both Miata's require this.
The Nissan requires this...but has an override switch on the dash.
At least the Scirocco still fires with no clutch...too bad it's not registered. :-(
