Default car in neutral, foot off the clutch. You are not only starting your car, but also turning the input

shaft of the trans. more rotational resistance for starter to overcome.....

Default This is why you put the clutch in or you have a clutch-ignition interlock

Default That car did have an interlock, the dummy let the clutch out after he started it and it was in gear

If it was in gear and the clutch was out, (and it didn't have an interlock) it would have jerked forward as he tried to start it. The only other explantion would be an automatic that was left in gear; I actually did that once on my first car - 69 Galaxie - but it was such a crappy transmission it took a couple seconds before it started moving...whoops.......but they haven't made an automatic without an interlock since the 70's.

End result, I'm pretty sure that regardless of how it happened.....that kid would still be dead. (he couldn't run fast or far enough)

Default First off, there is no oil pressure in a manual trans and......

if you're referring to the release bearing, it's a sealed bearing....there's no oil in the bell housing

Default I have lust.

I would buy that car in a second.

In the very next second, the soon-to-be-ex-wife would be calling a lawyer.

Almost always, unless I'm starting it from the passenger seat.

And how exactly do you concur that with the clutch in or out it has any "bearing on them? If anything the clutch in would reduce the load.

If the clutch is engaged (even in neutral)the i/p shaft is still turning the gears in the box, there's just none meshed together in a drive config.
