OMG, I hate the oil drain plug, 2 weeks now I have tried and failed to loosen it.
I have better luck removing 30 year old rusted on bolts from my Scout then removing this thing.
I just ordered one of those quick drain valve's based on recommendations I found in the archives. Also, via GiF I found a coupon code for 10% off YM4 at checkout.
However, I still have oil that needs out of my car. I guess there's always tomorrow. Sigh.<ul><li><a href="https://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=T207">https://www.quickoildrainvalve.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=T207</a</li></ul>

-2 foot breaker bar
-17mm, 6pt socket
-a little muscle
That's the easiest way i've found to do it. Don't bother with a wrench, short ratchet or 12pt anything, you'll just end up stripping it. Be sure to change the crush washer, that helps for next time. It all comes down to a steel plug in an aluminum pan.

It takes me longer to get the service cover off than it does to dump the oil and twist the filter off.
I'm guessing you tried PB Blaster? It may be time for heat.. :-(
Sorry to hear it's being a PITA..

How much time do you really save?
To get the drain plug out turn it out with a hammer and chistel:

After reading post after post of people having the same issue I am it makes more sense in my opinion.
I don't believe any drain plug should need the use of a hammer and chisel for removal.

Tomorrow the PB blaster goes on before I head up skiing, the Audi will be in the garage all day so it can soak. When I get home I will try again.
I am really worried about stripping out that head so we'll see how it goes.
This is the first time since I bought the car I am doing it myself so I am a little frustrated to say the least.

If I had a lift, no trouble (I think).
I have STFA and read all the how to's and this and that. Read all the same stories. It just appeared to have been awhile since someone bitched and moaned.
I do appreciate the input as always.
