Default Fighting 2nd gear.

About a month after I got my S6 I murdered my clutch (i suck.) and had it replaced w/ a 6 puck kit. At any rate, it fights me going into second from first... and second to third isnt the fastest either. I'm curious if this is just a result of the design of our transmission (I don't remember what it was like stock) or if something is wrong. First gear is also really loud... a bit of a grinding (only audible... I can't feel it) when I'm on the throttle but disappears when I get off of it (even while in gear). No real problems other than an inability to shift quickly under a heavy load... while cruising I have the time to shift.

Default i would say a 6puck clutch in an AWD car is a really bad idea

they don't provide much slip and slipping clutchs are what save trannys. also their engagement is pretty rough and can hurt gears or diffs.

Default Clutch slip is not good, ever.

I have an 8 puck clutch as pictured here:

Engagement is not difficult in any gears, ever.

I like the antique desk lamp in the background. Is it for sale?

Default you are WRONG WRONG WRONG smart guy. that is not an 8puck clutch

spend some time on the WRX and DSM forums and you'll know. Stiff clutches are the enemy of AWD drivetrains.

if you took your car to the dragstrip would you side-step the clutch? i would certainly hope not.

in the picture i posted there is a true 6puck clutch that would F|_|CK your **** up. Those are made for 2WD cars where they can just drop the clutch.

WE need a balance of clamping power and ease of slip, thats why organic discs are HIGHLY recommended for AWD applications.

Default Thats what I've got...

It was chosen and installed by pikespeak (20v B5 A4)racer Brian Moody @ Champagne Motors. I trust his choice... and I hope you're not right (no hard feelings). Check em out

Champagne Motors Website
