Default Help with HID install. Lights aren't working.

Hi All,

I began to install my new HID kit from VME this morning, but before drilling holes, I wanted to see if the lights worked. The installation seemed pretty straightforward, so I just plugged and played, per the included directions. After getting everything set up, the lights are not working. Does anyone have any tips or tricks? Or are there any steps not included in the instructions?

Thanks in advance.

Default No, I mean stare at the ground and admire the small details for a minute. :p

On mine, the aftermarket & factory polarities are reversed. I dremeled off the key on the factory power plug so it could be flipped around and it worked.

p.s., nice wheels.

Default Ground is good. Checked the voltage coming out of the ballasts. Zero.

I could understand getting a defective unit, but it's strange that both don't work. Any ideas?

P.S. I like your wheels too.

Do you have voltage going INTO the ballasts?

iirc, it's not a good idea to power up the ballasts without the bulbs plugged in. idk what the voltage is at the bulbs but it's for sure in the thousands.

as far as the reversed poalrity, i've seen this too, so if it happened to your kit then both ballasts would be reversed.

Default Hope this helps, I did their H1 kit on my euros.

I had the connection to the original bulb harness and then a wire for ground. The ground wire I attached with the rest of the ground wires (brown) inside the metal housing.

Default Hey, I had the same issue when i installed my VME kit.... i bet you..

The 2 pronged plug that goes into the ballast is reversed. It is designed to be installed one way, but it can easily be accidentally installed the opposite. This plug... Check it.

And there's the link to my original thread for HID VME DIY... Lemme know if that fixes it.

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/193193.phtml</a
