Default How do you remove the lower exterior trim pieces?

I have the upper and lower door pieces removed,
and think I know how to do the upper fender/quarter pieces but am in the dark on the
lower fender/quarter trim pieces.

To confirm, the upper rear quarter trim pieces
just slide off while the front fender pieces are
attached with a screw/bolt right?

Thanks
Chris

Default Mid-door pieces have a screw on each end, then they slide...

a few inches and pull strait off. The front fender piece has a plastic nut on the back that you can access from the wheel well.

The lower door trim has a screw at either end (maybe just one, can't remember), and then they slide all the way off (on a track).

Pretty sure they just have one screw then slide off also.

Default BTDT bottom strips actually a friction clip, on the trailing end. Pry out with screw driver..

You can see the friction clip at the trailing edge of that trim piece.. It's just pressed in there, no screws. Once removed that trim piece slides back toward the trailing door edge.

then you really should have new clips to reinsert. The clips are cold steel, and likely rusty..
I Can get you the part numbers later this week, I bought OEM parts from www.genuinevwaudiparts.com

Default There's a plastic screw secured by a plastic nut behind wheel well. There is also one

clip that slides and locks into place to the car (very similar to the clips on the mid door molding). To remove, unbolt the plastic nut behind the wheel well and slide the trim towards the front of the car. NOT an easy nut to get to!
