I'm can't figure out if it's part of the rear deck lid or not. I ask because I'm thinking of having the car tinted (one of my LEDs also burned out, but its the center one so thats not the main concern). I noticed on a few of the cars here that have been tinted that the tint goes around the 3rd brake light. I personally don't like that look and my tinter doesn't either. He usually removes the 3rd brake light..or the whole deck if required and then replaces it after the window is done. How is it done on our cars?

mine is tinted around the brake light. if the tinter gets close enough, it's not too noticeable

Pulled the outer cover off from the inside. Unclipped the bulb holder and swung it out of the way. Slid the housing off of the glass, it is just held with two spring clips. HTH's
