Default Hypothetical brake bleeding question

If you were pressure bleeding your brakes and the plastic bottle blew off the master cylinder, that means you'd need a whole new assy, right?

Default IIRC the brake fluid reservior is only held on to the master cyl by a friction fit

The reservoir has o-ring seals and it just pushes onto the top of the master cyl. You should be able to push it back on or just replace the o-rings. I've never had a problem pressure bleading, but I never go over 25 psi. At what pressure did the blow off hypothetically happen?

Default correct, it fits back on there

sometimes if the hose from the pressure bleeder can push or pull the resivoir off the mastercylinder. Re-attach and re-bleed.

Didn't happen to me, I heard it happened to a B5 A4. I pressure bleed @ 15psi.

Default No, all reserviors are pressed into the cylinder via o-rings and are gravity fed.

You'll just need to re-bleed everything.

Default

hypothetically this could only happen on a '92, thanks to the strut bars on later cars

Default There is still enough play for the bottle to pop up and spring a leak.

I'm just asking so I can be prepared for all contingencies.
