Default I just replaced my G62 temp sensor but the problem remains

My climate control diagnostic output #51 (coolant temperature) only goes up to 50C and then stops. The coolant temp gauge (far left) works fine and reports 90C when the engine is fully warm. I thought replacing the G62 would fix this issue, it didn't. Before replacing my G62 I also did my thermostat earler this winter.

What's next to check? Where does the #51 reading get it's data from? I'm convinced the car is running rich somehow since I've been getting 15 MPG for the last several months. The air filter is in good order, the oil is good, and it's using a new oxygen sensor as well.

By the way, replacing the G62 sensor is the easiest work I've done on the car. Just take out the old one and then quickly put the new one in before coolant runs all over the place, that's about it. It took only a minute.

Default The G62 has nothing to do with the Climate control system. The one you are looking for is the very

fragile plastic "T" connecting hoses from the engine to the heater core, etc. The "T" is very brittle and is likely to break if you try to remove the climate control sensor. Suggest you buy a T and a sensor if you are going to replace the sensor.

Default MFTS?

i replaced my g62 temp sensor to try and help my crappy gas mileage - no real improvement. I dont know if the MFTS would help either of us? i know the 3b engines used this to calculate fuel - im pretty sure AANs do not though...

Default For the AAN the MFTS is only the gauge sender. His gauge reading is good therefore something else.

Default Photos of what you should be looking for

Here is the blue sensor in its native habitat, in the "T" at the back of the engine:

and here is what a broken T looks like:

Of course it could break right at the green clip as well.

Well, the G62 *IS* very important to the engine, just not to the climate control.

Default I had the same problem.

After pulling my hair out I replaced my t-stat. Problem solved. So you say "read my post, I just replaced the t-stat" well so did I. It was OE and was put in 3 weeks prior. I bought a worldpac Becker Arnley or something and it's fine now.
