Default I was out road-testing latest software drop from Mihnea (THANK-YOU !) and this guy pulls up

next to me and says "Hey, what are you doing?". I was in the middle of cursing the recurring throttle cut bug which still plagues me :-/ But I thought the outline of the door and handles looked familiar... I look closer ... he's driving a 93 Pearl UrS4 !

So we got to chatting ... he has a full RS2 conversion. I explain I'm doing data logging on my latest GT3071 software drop.

So we do some highway speedo calibrations, my timing is teh suck but I still pull away nicely ;-)

We swap cars, and I got to drive an RS2 conversion for the first time. It's nice, very smooth like stock, but kicks in later i.e. more lag. In the end I'm so glad I got to ride an RS2, because now I really appreciate what I have: GT3071 is a torque monster !

And surprise : his car had the exact same throttle cut issue in 2nd gear at ~4K rpm, and I notice his Wastegate spring has been hyper tightened. . . hmmm

2nd surprise : he's lived only a few hundred yards down the road from me the entire time...

so you think the gt3071 has less lag than an RS2 turbo? makes me rethink my gt2871 plans

Default It's been said the GT2871 has lag similar to K24, flows to 400chp, but tapers off up top.

The GT3071 has lag a bit less than the RS2, flows to 450chp, holds steady up top. The Gt30R has more lag then the rest, flows to 550ish chp, and CAN boost 45psi.

Default Does the RS2 conversion have more lag than stock or more lag than gt3071?

It sounds like you meant that the RS2 has a bit more lag than stock. How does the lag of the RS2 compare to the gt3071?

I'm expecting GT2871 will have *less* lag than a K24, and more top end than an RS2 = wild !

Besides the ARP studs and the metal head gasket, any other engine work to your car?

Default No porting work, cams or stroke/pistons if that's what you mean

I installed a reconditioned head/valves. But the only flow changes have been from Phenolic Intake spacer, Polished & Coated RS2 EM.

Default The reason why I ask is because I'm curious as to how the the pistons/rods are going to hold up...

That's a lot of power to be putting through 'em!
