Default I think i need a new rear diff

There is a horrendous clunk emanating from the rear when shifting and tremendous slack in the entire driveline. All of this after tranny/engine mounts, snubber and rear diff mounts have been replaced, some multiple times. I've r&r'ed the center shaft as well. I'm starting to think there's play in the rear diff between the input shaft and the two axles. I'd love to pop a torsen diff in there but if I can't find one, no big deal. Where can I find a good used rear diff? Thanks!

Default Your diff bushing are mostl likely shot... I'm sure your diff is fine

Same happened to me, the clunck, etc.

See attached photo from this post, you need to change the bushing in the cross member bar part #5.

This bushing has open space above and below, most likely it sheared away and the bolt is hitting the top of the crossmember.

Take a flashlight under the car and take a careful look...

https://forums.audiworld.com/s4s6/msgs/179575.phtml</a

Default I'll check-thanks! I replaced 30....

Did your rear growl under tight turns and at 35-55mph? These symptoms make me think its more the diff....

Default Hmmm... No growls for me under turning conditions, that certainly sounds suspect!

But the clunk was each time I let out the clutch was the bolt for the bushing hitting the crossbar.
