With winter approaching, I thought I'd look into installing my OEM springs, so as to raise the ride height and give me a little extra clearance for those heavy snow days.
So I go down into the basement today to find the box containing what I thought were my stock springs. In actuality, I assumed they were the stock springs... the previous owner included them with the purchase, along with a bunch of other OEM and spare parts, and for one reason or another I never opened the box to check and simply assumed the springs were OEM. I open up the box and lo and behold... they're gleaming, apparently barely used, if at all. I take a closer look, and they're stamped with "H&R 29 800 HA." Hmm. I do a quick google search and it turns out these are the sport springs for the 91 200TQ 20v. The springs were kept in a 2Bennett box, so I decided to give them a call, hoping they might be able to shed some light onto the use of these springs on the UrS4. They kindly informed me that these springs can also be used to lower C4 S4s approximately 2.25-to-2.5 inches. Not what I was expecting to find, but I suppose I could always use them during the summer.
This certainly doesn't help my winter driving dilemma... though I'm sure I could find a used set of OEM springs if I decide I absolutely must raise the car.
