Hello. Newbie here has a question about getting better performance out of a '95 S6. So I have only had the car a few weeks and am already itching to give the engine more pep. I have read several posts regarding options and a chip seems to be an integral part in bettering the performance in a modestly priced budget.

However I noticed that my stock engine seems to get noticably better boost feel when the engine is cold and a little dissapointing when it is fully warmed up. So here's my question. Would adding only a better/bigger intercooler increase the boost feel at all engine temps and give me a feel more like the "cold" engine boost that I currently have when the engine is warm.

I live at 6500 ft so the air is a little thin here...

The cost for an intercooler is probably more than a chip etc. but it would seem that it would be better for the engine to run cooler, and if the performance increase is similar then....

Thoughts from the seasoned pros?

Chip it first. Stock intercooler is fine for stock and chipped. Steve Eiche in Arvada CO (Shadetree software) can hook you up with chips.
