Default That's more along the lines of what I was thinking. As more VEMS get into...

...circulation, there will be more base maps developed that can be passed around. I assume that happens with the 034 stuff? Kinda like buying a chip, but instead you just post here with your set up and a few people mail you maps.

Default We do this all the time on our turbo sleds''''

we start with tune that works then fix the holes that various mods produce.By carefully watching the wideband, we start rich and pull out the fuel till we get a safe AF reading. Some of our EFI controllers allow us to change each part of the throttle position,,,on the dash, others we have to hook up to a lap top and change it,and these more complicated ones can change ignition map and also have a boost referenced retard feature. On a 1050 three cylinder motor, we can get 290 hp @ 14 psi,,,,on 50/50 race, 20 psi,,,,330 full race fuel.

Default For stage 1 -> stage 3 (RS2), standalone is overkill.

This assumes factory parts, and not any kind of hybrid turbos, etc.

Because those solutions are already readily available, cheap, and bolt-on, messing around with standalone looks from here like a waste of money.

UNLESS you plan on going bigger than RS2, and are just using those bits as stepping stones to the bigger stuff. Then, learning how to use the software and having it all integrated to being with saves you significant hassle.

Or, if you fry your ECU, and can't find a used part, since buying a new one is somewhere near $1200 nowadays.
